The
Career
Development Facilitator course is
designed to train adult educators and transition specialists who offer
career assistance and guidance services in Career Development
Facilitation by focusing on career development theory and model;
student/client diversity; assessment; ethical and legal issues; labor
market information and resources; employability skills; and use of
technology. Instruction should lead to a better understanding of career
development resources and assessments, and an awareness of one’s
professional strengths and needed improvements in the area of career
guidance. Participants will collaborate with fellow classmates to
address challenging situations and explore community resources.
Upon
successful completion of this course, participants will be able to:

Use
the Internet to identify and use career information resources to
assist students with career decision-making.

Use
the Internet to access and interpret employment trends and labor
market information

Describe and assess how to apply career development theory to
practice through development of the professional student/client case
study portfolios and career development planning in an organization.

Assess
participant’s areas of strength or weakness relating to career
development by utilizing the appropriate assessments.
