The Office of Adult and Community Education at the South Carolina Department of Education actively partners with school districts, agencies, the business community, and higher education to develop programs that are mutually beneficial and that broaden the scope of service to adults who are most in need in our state.

The statewide initiatives listed were created at the state level and moved down to the local community through collaborative agreements.  Collaboration at the state level made it easier for local programs to establish the initiatives.  In most instances, funding was made able available through grants for local programs to be able to offer the services.
